SAN ANGELO, Texas - Oklahoma Christian (7-7, 1-2) pushed early set victories to the limit but ultimately fell in four sets (29-27, 16-25, 14-25, 18-25) against No. 6 Angelo State University (13-1, 3-0 LSC).
How It Happened
The Eagles set the tone early in a dramatic, extra-points opening frame. Down late, Oklahoma Christian rallied through clutch swings from Kenzy McArtor and defensive stops at the net. Locked in a 27-27 deadlock, an ASU attack error followed by a massive block from Leah Duncan secured the marathon set for OC.
The Rams responded quickly in the second set, capitalizing on an early scoring run to take control. Alexis Moore and Molly Brunell delivered key kills for OC, but ASU's high-powered attack leveled the match.
Angelo State carried their momentum into the third frame, opening on a swift 5-0 run. Despite service aces from Macey Nehring and Emma Eyster, the Eagles were unable to narrow the gap as ASU built a two-set lead.
OC fought to extend the match behind steady setting from Summer Van Meerveld and frontline scoring from Chloe Jones and Leah Duncan. The Eagles recorded late blocks to stave off set points, but the Rams closed out the match with a final kill.
