TOPEKA, Kan. – Oklahoma Christian volleyball picked up a pair of straight-set victories Friday at the Washburn Invitational, defeating William Jewell and Westminster (Utah) to finish the day with a 2-1 record.

Oklahoma Christian came out firing offensively in its first match of the day, hitting .369 as a team with 43 kills and just 12 attacking errors. The Eagles held William Jewell to a .084 hitting percentage and 27 kills.
OC took control early in the opening set. After holding a 10-9 advantage, Jenna McClure stepped to the service line and helped the Eagles build a commanding lead, including three consecutive service aces during the run. Oklahoma Christian went on to take the opening set, 25-12.
McClure led the Eagles with eight kills, four service aces, nine digs and two block assists. Molly Brunell and Kenzy McArtor each added eight kills, with Brunell hitting .636 and McArtor hitting .615 without an attacking error. Chloe Jones finished with five kills on eight attempts for a .625 hitting percentage.
Summer Van Meerveld dished out a team-high 18 assists, while Emma Eyster added 12. Macey Nehring led the defensive effort with 10 digs as OC finished with 41 as a team.
Oklahoma Christian 3, Westminster 0
The Eagles carried their momentum into the second match, producing another efficient offensive performance against Westminster.
OC hit .333 with 40 kills and only 10 errors while holding the Griffins to a .124 hitting percentage. The Eagles opened the match with 15 kills and a .414 hitting percentage on their way to a 25-16 victory in the first set.
After Westminster stayed within striking distance early in the third set, Oklahoma Christian pulled away and closed the match with a dominant 25-9 win. The OC defense held Westminster to just five kills and forced six attacking errors in the final set, resulting in a -.032 hitting percentage for the Griffins.
McClure once again led the offensive attack, recording a match-high 10 kills while adding four service aces. Jones turned in an efficient all-around performance with eight kills and no attacking errors on 17 attempts, hitting .471 while adding eight digs and four block assists.
McArtor finished with six kills and no errors, Brunell added six kills while hitting .444, and Leah Duncan recorded four kills on seven swings with three block assists.
Van Meerveld led OC with 22 assists, while Eyster added 12. Nehring anchored the back row with a team-high 13 digs. The Eagles finished the match with 48 digs and five service aces.
Oklahoma Christian will close out its time in Topeka with a match against Arkansas Tech on Saturday, August 29, at 11:30 a.m.
