Softball Uses Walk-Off to Go 2-0 on Day One of Festival

EDMOND, Okla. - After a run-rule victory against Black Hills State to start its day, Oklahoma Christian used an Ally McDougal walk-off single to defeat New Mexico Highlands on day one of the 2026 UCO/OC Festival.

Kadence Brewster (3-for-7) was the lone Eagle to claim multiple hits in either game, finishing 2-for-4 against Highlands with one run scored. Ella Resendiz, while getting the start in the circle against NMHU, also reached base safely three times while only logging one official at-bat, working a pair of walks.

Jill Dickson (3-0) continued her strong start to the 2026 campaign, picking up the win after going four scoreless innings against Black Hills State, allowing just two hits while striking out three batters. Eagle batters claimed six extra-base hits in the 10-run victory, including two triples and a home run.

No. 25 Oklahoma Christian (5-0, 0-0 LSC) will return to Tom Heath Field Saturday, Feb. 7 for day two of the UCO/OC Festival when it takes on Oklahoma Baptist and Fort Lewis at 3:30 and 5:45 p.m., respectively.

Game One: No. 25 Oklahoma Christian 10, Black Hills State 0 (5 inn.)
After a three-up, three-down top of the first from Dickson, Maci George started the 2026 home slate off strong with a lead-off home run for the early lead. The Eagles would then score six more runs before the second inning was over, carrying a 7-0 advantage into the third frame.

Danae Lopez and Victoria Brazil put OC in run-rule territory in the third with a two-RBI single from Lopez only to be immediately brought home by one of the maroon-and-gray's two triples courtesy of Brazil. The combination of Dickson and relief pitcher Payten Schibbelhute allowed BHSU just two more hits the rest of the way, finishing things early in the fifth.

Game Two: No. 15 Oklahoma Christian 5, New Mexico Highlands 4
Following a scoreless first inning, New Mexico Highlands found itself up early with back-to-back doubles to plate two. Facing its largest deficit of the five-game old season, Oklahoma Christian responded with a four-spot in the home-half of the second to take the lead, 4-2.

The Eagles' bats went a bit cold as the game wore on, seeing just three more hits over the next four innings, allowing NMHU to deliver the game's first tie in the top of the sixth on a two-out double. Just like earlier in the game, OC would respond.

Following a lead-off single from Kallie Rupp and a sacrifice bunt advancing her into scoring position, Ally McDougal, who had only entered the game only moments earlier as a relief outfielder, brought Rupp home with a walk-off single.
