Baseball Falls Late to No. 12 Angelo in Series Finale, 9-8

SAN ANGELO, Texas - In Sunday's series finale, Oklahoma Christian led No. 12 Angelo State, 8-2, before the Rams scored six unanswered to take game four, 9-8.

Evan Ballast spent the most time on the mound in Sunday's finale, earning the no-decision after 4.1 innings of relief work, striking out four batters while allowing four runs. At the plate, Ruben Castro led the way with three hits and five RBI, including a three-run homer for his fourth of the season.

Angelo State started off with a 2-0 lead before Castro handed the Eagles the lead with a three-run shot in the third. After ASU tied it third, a four-spot in the fourth and another in the sixth gave the maroon-and-gray the 8-3 lead.

With two innings left to play, the top-12 Rams came through with their own four-run inning in the seventh, cutting the lead to one before holding OC scoreless in its final at-bat. In Angelo's final at-bat, a two-run home run gave ASU its first lead since the second inning, 9-8.

Oklahoma Christian (4-10, 4-10 LSC) will now return to Dobson Baseball Field when it hosts Texas A&M International in a four-game series starting Friday, Feb. 27 at 5 p.m.
