No. 21 Softball Drops Game One of Regionals to [5] Cougars, 3-1

TYLER, Texas - No. 21 Oklahoma Christian continues its 2025 postseason run in Tyler, Texas, after falling to No. 5 seed Colorado Christian on day one the South Central Regional, 3-1.

Marti Yaerger (2-for-3), Kate Paulsen (1-for-2) and Kadence Brewster (1-for-3) were the lone Eagles to claim hits against the Cougars Thursday afternoon. Grace Anderson pitched the final three innings in relief, giving up just one hit while holding CCU scoreless.

Both teams claimed one hit through the first two innings before OC got on the board first. Following a Brewster lead-off triple in the third inning, Yaerger immediately recorded an RBI-ground-out for the 1-0 lead.

Colorado Christian responded to the brief deficit with three runs in the top of the fourth to take its first lead of the game, 3-1. For the remainder of the game, though Anderson kept the RMAC Champions at bay the rest of the way, OC only saw three more base runners the final our innings.

Oklahoma Christian's best threat came in the sixth as Eagles occupied first and second base with just one out, and again in the seventh when a lead-off Paulsen single brought the tying run to the plate, but CCU survived game one, 3-1.

No. 21 Oklahoma Christian will continue in the double-elimination regional bracket with No. 8 seed MSU Denver Friday, May 9 at 3:30 p.m. ET/2:30 p.m. CT. A win against the Roadrunners will have OC play again at 5 p.m. against the loser of No. 1 UT Tyler and No. 5 Colorado Christian.
