EDMOND, Okla. - After a game two that saw both pitchers throw at least 140 innings, No. 19 Oklahoma Christian survived a doubleheader against Cameron Sunday afternoon, 6-3 and 4-3.
The Eagles completed the day sweep with an 11-inning victory over the Aggies, marking OC's longest game since playing 13 innings against then-No. 13 Lubbock Christian in the Lone Star Conference Tournament in 2022.
Grace Anderson (14-5) threw 140 innings while Cameron's Stormee Reed threw 186 pitches.
Anderson's marathon outing came with 10 strikeouts to just one walk while allowing nine hits and three runs, one of which was earned.
Jill Dickson (13-7) matched Anderson with 10 strikeouts in just six innings of work while
Rebecca Lozano earned her first save of the season after getting the final out in the three-run ballgame.
The Brewster twins were the only Eagles to tally hits in both games, with
Kadence Brewster (4-for-7) leading the game-two comeback with a 3-for-5 outing, including the walk-off double.
Maci George reached base four times on the day with three total walks and a hit, while also scoring the game-winning run in Sunday's latter game.
No. 19 Oklahoma Christian (27-13, 20-10 LSC) will turn around and head to Lawton, Okla. to face Cameron in a doubleheader Tuesday, Apr. 8 starting at 3 p.m.Â
Game One: No. 19 Oklahoma Christian 6, Cameron 3
Both players left a runner on base across the first two innings. Cameron brought a second to the bags before Dickson allowed OC to open a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the third off a CU fielding error.
That error turned into four errors after a three-error, four-hit bottom of the sixth inning that saw the Eagles plate five runs for the 6-0 lead. After Cameron broke through a bit in the seventh, bringing the go-ahead run to the plate, Lozano entered the circle for the final out to clinch game one for Oklahoma Christian, 6-3.
Game Two: No. 19 Oklahoma Christian 4, Cameron 3 (11 inn.)
Cameron kept up the scoring from game one's seventh with a single run in the first inning for the early 1-0 lead. 12 of Oklahoma Christian's first 13 batters were retired, allowing the Aggies to plate two more runs for a 3-0 lead heading into the bottom of the fifth inning.
While not operating in the circle, Anderson put OC's first run on the board with an RBI-single in the sixth until that 3-1 deficit was facing the maroon-and-gray in the bottom of the seventh.
Following a
Madi Drummond walk and a Ka. Brewster single,
Kiley Brewster came to the plate. With one out to spare, Ki. Brewster hit a single to left field to at the very least score Drummond and cut the Aggies' lead to one. The left fielder proceeded to misplay the ball, allowing it to roll to fence, bringing Ki. Brewster to third.
After a ground-out sent the game to extra innings, neither team brought a runner as far as third. With the game still 3-3 into the bottom of the 11th frame, a lead-off walk from George, followed by two outs, brought the other Brewster to the plate with two outs.
Similar to her sister Kiley in the home-half of the seventh, Kadence sent a double to right center field to score George and complete the two-game sweep, 4-3.
