EDMOND, Okla. - No. 20 Oklahoma Christian avenged its two losses St. Edward's in Austin, Texas, earlier this season by winning its final two home games of the season over the Hilltoppers, 4-2 and 5-3.
The Eagles find themselves winners of their last eight home games and close the 2025 season with a 22-6 record inside Lawson Softball Complex at Tom Heath Field - its most single-season home wins since 2022.
With OC trailing late in both games,
Maci George stood to be the difference on both ends of Friday's doubleheader, recording the go-ahead RBI in each contest. For the day, George went 4-for-6 at the plate with four RBI.
Jill Dickson completed her undefeated week, getting her third win in the circle over the last three days. In the game-one win, Dickson (18-8) allowed just two runs on six hits. Following St. Edwards' two-run third inning, Dickson allowed just three base runners the rest of the game.
No. 20 Oklahoma Christian (35-15, 28-12 LSC) will play four more games to round out the 2025 season, beginning with No. 4 UT Tyler in Tyler, Texas, Friday, Apr. 25 at 4 and 6 p.m.
Game One: No. 20 Oklahoma Christian 4, St. Edward's 2
St. Edward's put runners on the corners in the first inning, but were unable to do anything with them until the third inning. The Hilltoppers used a pair of two-out singles and a two-out walk to plate two runs for the 2-0 lead.
For the third straight inning, OC was retired in order, but Dickson recorded her second three-up, three-down frame in the top of the fourth to give the Eagles the boost they needed. Following a lead-off walk from
Marti Yaerger, George put OC on the board with an RBI-double to cut SEU's lead in half, 2-1.
St. Edward's opened the fifth with back-to-back hits before bringing those runners to second and third with just one out. Dickson quieted the Hiltoppers biggest threat of the game, issuing a fly-out to shallow center field and then a line-out to first base. keeping OC's deficit at 2-1.
The next three Hilltoppers in the sixth were again put down in order before Oklahoma Christian took advantage on the offensive side of the ball. Following consecutive singles from
Kadence Brewster and Yaerger, George came through with her second and third RBI of the game before coming around herself for the 4-2 advantage.
The game-tying run came to the plate in the top of the seventh for SEU, but Dickson did not allow them to reach base, completing the come-from-behind win, 4-2.Â
Game Two: No. 20 Oklahoma Christian 5, St. Edward's 3
Starting pitcher
Grace Anderson got the first two Hilltopper batters out before consecutive two-out singles plated the first run of the game for the visitors, 1-0. Oklahoma Christian was held without a hit until the third frame as SEU plated another run for its second 2-0 lead of the day.
After OC found itself down, 3-0, the Eagles claimed six of their 10 hits in the fifth inning. After a lead-off fly-out, the maroon-and-gray secured six hits in the next seven batters, capped off with George's second go-ahead RBI of the day on a two-out single for the 4-3 lead.
Anderson used the momentum from the big offensive swing with her first three-up, three-down frame in the sixth before OC kept up the offense in the home-half of the inning.
Kiley Brewster opened the sixth with her team-leading fifth triple of the season before being brought around for the Eagles' fifth run.
For just the second time in the game and the second consecutive inning, Anderson sat down the Hilltoppers in what was the senior's final inning at Tom Heath Field, clinching the doubleheader sweep, 5-3.
