- West Texas A&M opened the scoring with a seven-hit, seven-run third inning, which featured four doubles, to establish an 8-1 lead.
- Three more runs in the fourth for the Buffs were the final runs scored by the visitors until the ninth inning as OC cut into the deficit with four runs in the next two innings thanks to a three-run fourth frame.
- One more run in the fifth was the last dent OC could make into the Buffs lead as West Texas left Dobson Field with the 13-5 lead with two final runs in the ninth.Â
