Women's Bowling Places Sixth at ITC Sectionals

FORT WORTH, Texas - The Oklahoma Christian women's bowling team headed back down to Fort Worth, Texas to bowl in the Intercollegiate Singles Championships (ISC) and Intercollegiate Team Championships (ITC) for a chance to advance to nationals on Mar. 7-9.

Day One

The first day of sectionals was the ISC's portion in which five bowlers took the opportunity to bowl for a chance to make the ISC nationals. No one on the women's team made the top six to make the ISC cut, but there were still some good performances from the girls.

Senior Jessica Flannigan finished the highest out of the Lady Eagles as she finished 28th in the standings, followed by senior Shelby Davis who finished 35th.

Day Two

The goal at the end of the weekend was to finish in the top four teams in the sectional in order to advance to nationals. The Eagles would need to bowl 64 baker games across two days to determine if their season would extend for one more tournament or end this weekend.

Oklahoma Christian would start off slow, falling down to 13th after the first 16 baker games. After the break, they were able to pick things up and jumped from 13th to 3rd place after the 32 baker games had been concluded.

Day Three

OC needed to finish in the top four to make the ITC national tournament. After 60 baker games the Lady Eagles had dropped to sixth place, but were only 13 pins out from the fourth place spot. After a dramatic finish to determine the 4th-6th place positions, Oklahoma Christian would fall short of making it to nationals finishing sixth against some tough competition.

Next Up

The Lady Eagles will head out east to the Volunteer State in Smyrna, Tenn. to bowl the Music City Classic hosted by Vanderbilt University Mar. 14-16.
