EDMOND, Okla. - Playing its first doubleheader of the young 2025 season, Oklahoma Christian dropped the twin bill against St. Mary's Saturday evening, 6-3 and 6-1.
Michael Adair led the Eagles at the plate after going 3-for-4 in the first game of the day. The Fort Gibson, Okla., native has recorded four hits in his first seven at-bats in an OC uniform.
Cason Gregory, who is hitting .500 through three games, and
Hunter Jones were the only two Oklahoma Christian batters to claim hits in both games, with Jones logging his first home run of the season in the first game.
Oklahoma Christian (1-2, 1-2 LSC) will return to Dobson Baseball Field Sunday, Feb. 9 at 1 p.m. for the series finale with the Rattlers.
GAME ONE: St. Mary's 6, Oklahoma Christian 3
Following a scoreless first inning was met with four hits from St. Mary's in the second to see the first lead of the game, 3-0. A fourth run maintained a 4-0 Rattler lead that turned into a 6-0 advantage until the sixth inning.
Oklahoma Christian cut into the StMU deficit for the first time with Jones' solo home run in the sixth before the Eagles threatened in the bottom of the seventh. The maroon-and-gold loaded the bases before
Justin Spencer used a two-RBI single to bring the tying run to the plate. A line-out to left field ended the threat, however, 6-3.
GAME TWO: St. Mary's 6, Oklahoma Christian 1
The Eagles offense struggled to get going early, managing its first hit in the fourth inning. At that point, St. Mary's had established a 3-0 lead. Jones came through with OC's first hit of the game with a double before
Reed Carroll used a two-out double to put Oklahoma Christian on the board, 3-1.
The Rattlers extended that lead to 5-1 in the top of the fifth before OC appeared to cut into it again in the home-half of the frame before being forced to leave the bases loaded as play moved to the sixth. St. Mary's added one final run in the seventh to issue the final score, 6-1.
