OC Mounts Senior-Day Comeback Over Western New Mexico, 66-62

EDMOND, Okla. - Trailing by five points with 4:57 remaining in regulation, Oklahoma Christian closed the game on a 9-0 run, all of which came from two of the Eagles' seniors on Senior Day to come away with the 66-62 victory against Western New Mexico Saturday afternoon.

Seniors Maro Foster and Bryce Kennedy each recorded 16 points to lead the comeback effort. Foster added seven rebounds, three assists and three steals in his final game inside the Payne Athletic Center.

Oklahoma Christian shot just 27.3 percent (9-of-33) from the floor in the first half while WNMU shot 51.7 percent (15-of-29). The tables flipped in the second period, with OC hitting 42.4 percent (14-of-33) of its field-goals while the Mustangs spent the final 20 minutes shooting 29 percent (9-of-31).

The Eagles never led in the first half, trailing by as many as 14 points before closing the halftime gap to 11, 37-26. The maroon-and-gray opened the second half with a 6-0 run to foreshadow what was to come over the next 18 minutes.

Western New Mexico kept it a two-possession game as OC slowly whittled into the Mustang lead. Oklahoma Christian took hold of the lead for the first time briefly at the 9:36 mark before WNMU retook the lead, holding onto it for the next seven minutes of game time.

The Mustangs recorded their final points of the game with 4:57 left in regulation as OC closed on a 9-0 run thanks to six straight from Kennedy and the final three coming from the charity stripe courtesy of Javon Grant.

Oklahoma Christian (9-17, 6-15 LSC) finished the 2024-25 season with its best home record since the 2012-13 campaign at 9-5. The Eagles will travel to Lawton, Okla., to face Cameron in the season finale Thursday, Feb. 27 at 7:30 p.m.
