EDMOND, Okla. -
Jason Clark opened the season by dropping a career-high 26 points as Oklahoma Christian defeated Randall in Tuesday's season opener, 89-72.
Clark's needed just 17 shot attempts to reach his career high, going 11-of-17 from the floor while hitting four of his six free-throw attempts. The Katy, Texas, native tied the most points scored by an Eagle in a home opener since Aubrey Johnson scored 28 against Dallas Christian to open the 2018-19 campaign.
Elijah Bailey scored his 500th career point as the Brooklyn, N.Y., native followed Clark with 17 points, five assists and four rebounds. Fellow first-year Eagle
Carson Jones was the third OC player to score in double figures with 13 points and eight rebounds.
The Saints kept it tight early on, knocking down three of their six first-half triples in the first five minutes and 11 seconds of the game. Jones scored 11 of his 13 points in the opening 20 minutes to help OC separate itself before half, 44-34.
Where Jones helped the Eagles distance itself from the Saints, Bailey assisted in keeping the Saints at bay as 13 of his 17 points came in the second half.
Josh Aiken gave Oklahoma Christian its largest lead of the game with 24 seconds remaining in regulation, 87-69, before two free-throws from
Chacun Anderson II in the waning seconds handing OC the 17-point victory.
Oklahoma Christian (1-0, 0-0 LSC) will remain at home for its next two games, starting with Southwestern Oklahoma State Saturday, Nov. 22 at 3 p.m.
