Volleyball Falls Short on Road at No. 23 DBU

DALLAS, Texas - Oklahoma Christian completed its first LSC road trip of the 2024 season after falling to No. 23 DBU Saturday afternoon, 3-0.

Outside hitter Annie Davis matched her season-high with five kills as she sat one kill shy of team-leader Chloe Jones' six winners. Fellow outside Avery Cole hit a team-best .500 with four kills on six total attacks.

Overall, OC as a team hit .105 compared the nationally-ranked Patriots with a .451 attacking clip. The offensive efficiency from both sides showed early on as DBU secured the first seven points of the match for an opening 25-15 win.

The Eagles played their best set of the day in the second frame staying with the nation's No. 23 team, holding an 11-10 lead halfway through. The formidable Patriots came through with a 7-1 run to regain the momentum in route and escape with a 25-22 second-set victory, which was DBU's closest frame in six sets.

Oklahoma Christian saw one point for every one of DBU's three points early on as the Patriots rode the early advantage to a third-set 25-16 win for the ultimate 3-0 match victory.

The Eagles (8-5, 0-2 LSC) return to the confines of the Payne Athletics Center before returning to the Lone Star State next Friday and Saturday beginning with the season's second meeting with St. Mary's Friday at 6 p.m.
