Volleyball Closes 2024 LSC Challenge with 3-0 Win Over Cameron

SAN ANTONIO, Texas - On getaway day at the 2024 LSC Challenge, Oklahoma Christian picked up a 3-0 win against Cameron Saturday afternoon, 25-16, 25-21, 25-21.

The Eagles hit better than .219 in all three sets while holding Cameron below .062 in two of the three frames. Redshirt sophomore Lauren Cary led the defensive effort with five blocks while recording two kills on seven total attacks.

True freshman Chloe Jones delivered her third match with double-digit kills in OC's last four matches, hitting .333 with 10 kills. Riley Daugherty had the best attack percentage among players with at least 20 total attacks, posting seven kills compared to zero errors for a .350 average.

Oklahoma Christian opened afternoon action with its most dominant set. After seeing an early 9-5 lead, OC grew that lead to nine for a 25-16 opening set victory over the Aggies.

The momentum from that opening set spilled over into the second as the Eagles secured five of the first six second-set points before CU got the tally back within one, 9-8. A 6-2 run from the designated visitors opened a 15-10 lead, which OC rode to a 25-21 victory in the second stanza.

Another mini run turned a close third set in the early going into an Oklahoma Christian advantage at 13-6 thanks a couple kills, blocks and one of Cary's two blocks. A late Cameron run threatened to extend play at 23-20, but a match-clinching kill from Annie Davis sent the Eagles back to the Sooner State a winner.

After an 11-match road slate, Oklahoma Christian (8-3, 0-0) will begin conference action in the Lone Star State when it takes on UT Tyler in Tyler, Texas, Friday, Sept. 27 at 6 p.m.
