Softball’s Historic Season Concludes with Gritty Performance at UT Tyler

Tyler, Texas - Oklahoma Christian looked to bounce back on day two of the super-regional against UT Tyler, in a game where they out-hit the Patriots and had a strong performance from Grace Anderson in circle.

How It Happened
The Patriots started the game with a walk and a sacrifice bunt to put the runner in scoring position and drove her in on an RBI single to take an early lead.

OC looked to manufacture the same thing after Brooklin Bain reached on a lead off walk and was moved to second on a Kiley Brewster sacrifice bunt, but UTT worked itself out of the inning.

Grace Anderson locked down the Patriots, and the Eagles threatened with doubles from Kadence Brewster and Kylie Janzen in the second and third inning.

Ka. Brewster attempted to score on an infield hit after being moved to third on a Karsyn Iltis sac-bunt but was thrown out at the plate.

Anderson cruised into the fifth inning, but UT Tyler was able to score in the top of the fifth after two singles, an error, and a sacrifice fly RBI results in two more runs for the Patriots.

Oklahoma Christian's best chance came in the bottom of the sixth, when they loaded on three singles and a fielder's choice. Ki. Brewster, Chloe Woodward, and Iltis accounted for the singles, and Kristen Whitehouse appeared to have potentially tied the game with a ball laced into right center, but a Sportscenter worthy effort from the UTT center fielder kept OC off the board.

After striking out to Patriots in the top of the seventh, Grace Anderson singled to open the bottom of the inning on moved to second on a Janzen walk. UTT again faced the Eagles tying run at the plate, but was able to escape the jam, and secure their third straight trip to nationals.

Thank You, Seniors!
Oklahoma Christian saw the careers of seven seniors (Aaliyah Brown, Brooklin Bain, Chloe Woodward, Kristen Whitehouse, Kylie Janzen, Tristyn Hamilton, and Whitney Walde) come to an end today. Those seven seniors built on the foundation of the class before, never missing an NCAA regional appearance, and setting the standard program for years to come.
