Portales, NM - Oklahoma Christian (28â€"17, 23-12) traveled out to play Eastern New Mexico (22-21, 15-20) in a three-game conference series. The teams opened up play on Saturday afternoon with a doubleheader.
Game 1
Brooklin Bain lived up to her lead-off spot as she started the game with a hard-hit double off the right-center wall. Bain showed off her baserunning by taking third base on a passed ball, this put her in perfect position to score off a grounder up the middle hit by Kiley Brewster.
Grace Anderson started in the circle for the Eagles with a 1-0 lead.
The Greyhounds would tie the game at 1-1 and the Eagles would look to respond.
Both starting pitchers turned the game into a pitcher's duel after giving up one run in the first inning.
It would take extra innings to decide a winner for the first game of the doubleheader.
The Eagles would drop game one in a walk-off extra-inning game and look to rebound in game two.
Anderson finished the game with six scoreless innings and six strikeouts in the game.
Game 2
The Greyhounds were quick to score first in game two of the day. ENMU drove two runs across the plate to take the early lead.
Brooklin Bain got things started for the Eagle with a solo home run to cut the Greyhound lead in half.
The Eagles would take the lead in the top of the fourth inning. Whitney Walde got things started in the inning with a hard-hit single at the shortstop. While playing both sides of the ball, Jill Dickson hit a single into right-center to put runners on first and second. Kylie Janzen ripped a clutch three-run homer over the right-center wall to take a two-run lead over the Greyhounds.
The Greyhounds would get one run in the bottom of the fifth inning to cut the lead to one.
With Greyhound runners on first and second in the bottom of the sixth, Kadence Brewster stepped into the circle to get the Eagles out of the jam and did just that. Brewster would go on to shut down ENMU to clinch the win for the Eagles.
