Eagles to Take a Two-Game Road Trip in Texas

Oklahoma City, Okla- Oklahoma Christian (10-11, LSC 7-8) will travel to take on Texas A&M University-Kingsville (5-15, LSC 3-12) and Texas A&M International (11-10, LSC 7-8) this week, in must-win games for the Eagles. 

WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT OC 

  • Head coach Kendre Talley is in his 5th season as the Eagles head coach.

  • The Eagles sit at 9th in the conference standings with just 5 games left in the regular season.

  • Moun'Tae Edmundson leads the Eagles, averaging 14.3 points per game, 4.4 boards, 2.2 assists, and a steal per game. He is in the top 15 in scoring in the LSC and has been crucial to OC's success.

  • Seniors Karlyn Kenner and Quinton Johnson II have also helped shoulder the load with 10.4 and 9.9 points per game, respectively.

  • Graduate student Hunter Staten has been a big-time player for the Eagles in the last 11 games, averaging 11.8 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 1.5 blocks. This has included 2 games with a 20-point-plus performance and another 4 games scoring over 10 points. Staten currently sits 9th overall in the LSC in blocks. 

  • After a slow start in conference play, the Eagles have started clicking on all cylinders – winning five of their last six thanks to a balanced attack from their upperclassmen.

  • Omar Gonzalez is in his first season as the head coach of Texas A&M University-Kingsville. Before becoming the head, he spent 5 seasons as an assistant.
