Eagles Start Final 3-Game Road Stretch in New Mexico

Oklahoma City, Okla - Oklahoma Christian (12-13, LSC 9-10) heads East to take on the Greyhounds of ENMU (15-9, LSC 11-7) and the Mustangs of WNMU (3-20, LSC 1-17) in two of their last three games of the 2023-2024 season. 

WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT OC

  • Head coach Kendre Talley is in his fifth season as the Eagles head coach.

  • The Eagles currently sit tenth in the conference standings. The top eight teams in the LSC make the conference tournament. 

  • Moun'Tae Edmundson leads the Eagles, averaging 13.5 points per game, 4.5 boards, 2.6 assists, and a steal per game. He is in the top 16 in scoring in the LSC and has been a crucial part of OC's success.

  • Seniors Quinton Johnson II and Hunter Staten have also helped shoulder the load, adding 11.1 and 10.2 points per game, respectively.

  • In the Eagles' last two games, they picked up a good win against St. Mary's and then went down to the wire against St. Edwards before dropping the game in a heartbreaking finish.

WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT EASTERN NEW MEXICO 

  • Brent Owen is in his fourth season as head coach for the Greyhounds.

  • ENMU has had a strong season, posting an 11-7 conference record and sitting at the sixth spot in the conference rankings.

  • The Greyhounds' success has been, in large part, thanks to senior wing Jahcoree Ealy. He leads the LSC in scoring putting up 21.3 points per game, and shooting 60% from the field.

  • Greg Johnson, the Greyhounds senior point guard, is also a strong contributor, pouring in 16.1 points per game, shooting 48% from the field and 52% from the three.

 WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT WESTERN NEW MEXICO 

  • Head coach Mark Bunker is in his first season with the Mustangs after serving a nine-year stint as head coach at Scottsdale CC.

  • The Mustangs are a younger group that has struggled to find some consistency this season. They are 3-20 on the season, with only one of their wins coming in LSC play.

  • WMNU is led by junior guard Cortaviaus Seales. He is the Mustangs leading scorer with 17.1 points per game to go along with 1.1 steals and 2.5 assists.

  • The Mustangs have also had a lot of help from graduate student Prosper Obidiebube, who is putting up 11.8 points per game and 5.4 rebounds on 54% shooting from the field.
