Lady Eagles Close Out 2024 in the Nest Playing Host to the Aggies

EDMOND, Okla. - Coach Markieth Brown and the Lady Eagles (4-4, LSC 1-3) will look to end the 2024 part of the season with a win, hosting their in-state conference foe, the Cameron Aggies (2-5, LSC 0-3), Thursday, Dec. 19th in the Payne Athletic Center, beginning at 3 p.m.

Eagles Outlook

The Lady Eagles, coming off a heartbreaking comeback effort against Angelo State, fell short in overtime, are looking to end the calendar year on a high note with a crucial divisional matchup with Cameron.

Senior guard Kate Bradley and junior forward Taylor Jackson lead the Lady Eagles in every category of the game and are ranked in multiple categories among the Lone Star Conference.

Bradley and Jackson are averaging 15 points per game, and both are coming off back-to-back 20-point performances. In last week's two games, the Lady Eagles scored a combined 138 points, 85 of which came from Bradley and Jackson.

The senior post-player, Jordan Francisco, is entering this matchup with Cameron, now inside the top-10 in rebounding in the conference and coming off two gritty defensive performances, accounting for 13 rebounds, five assists, three steals, and four blocks in last week's games.

The Lady Eagles continue to shoot well, leading the Lone Star Conference in team free throw percentage at 80%.

Scouting the Aggies

Head coach Jeffrey Mahoney entered his third season with the Aggies, picked to finish ninth in the LSC preseason polls despite only returning five players from last year's roster. The team has struggled to find wins this season and is still searching for their first win in the conference.

Averaging 12.1 points per game, 7.9 rebounds, and shooting 80% from the free throw line, Shamica Smith is leading the charge for the Aggies. Grace Alverson has also contributed solid minutes for Cameron, averaging over ten points a game.

The Aggies have the most success from the foul line, with a team average of 76%. Kennedy Cummings, who is still a perfect 14-14 on the season, highlights this.

The Aggies have claimed two victories over in-state opponents, beating common opponents, East Central, who gave OC a season-opening loss, and beating Northwestern Oklahoma back in November.

Last Year Match Up

While Oklahoma Christian holes a slight series lead over Cameron, 21-19, the Aggies come into this matchup on a three-game winning streak over the Lady Eagles.

In last year's match-up, the Aggies took an early first-quarter lead. The Lady Eagles held the lead from the second quarter into the final minutes, but the Aggies won by three points.

Shamica Smith is the only returning player for the Aggies who scored 15 points in last year's matchup.

For the Lady Eagles, Nakia Cullom led all scoring with 17 points and grabbed six rebounds, and Kate Bradley added 12 points, six rebounds, seven assists, and two blocks.
