CANYON, Texas - Oklahoma Christian's first 20-win season of the NCAA Division II era came to an end in the 2024 Lone Star Conference Quarterfinals after falling to No. 10 Angelo State, 3-0. Despite the sweep, OC secured the most and now-third most points single-set points it has scored against ASU since 2022.
Oklahoma Christian claimed the first point of the quarterfinal match, but Angelo St. responded with the next five. Despite the quick change in momentum, OC clawed back to stay within two points of the conference's No. 2 seed, 10-8. For the second time in the opening set, the Rambelles strung together several points to establish a 14-8 lead before taking the opener, 25-14.
The Top-10 program looked to make it another quick second set, recording eight of the first nine points before opening a 15-7 advantage. The Eagles continued to show fight, mounting a 5-1 run to make a game out of it, 16-12. Oklahoma Christian came all the way back to score 18 on the Rambelles albeit falling behind, 2-0.
The third set continued as the two previous two with No. 10 Angelo State advancing to the LSC Semifinals, but not before Oklahoma Christian scored the most points in a single-set against the blue-blood Rambelles since 2022, 25-22.
Oklahoma Christian closes the 2024 season with 20 overall victories and nine LSC wins - both school-records since the reinstatement of the program in 2020.
