EDMOND, Okla. - After 15 matches away from the Payne Athletics Center to start the 2024 season, Oklahoma Christian women's volleyball will play its home opener one month into the new campaign Wednesday, Oct. 9 when No. 9 West Texas A&M comes to Edmond, Okla. First serve of the conference dual is set for 6 p.m.

EAGLE OUTLOOK
Its last time out on the floor, Oklahoma Christian claimed its first conference victory of the season with a 3-2 road win at St. Edward's. It was OC's first five-set win in league play since facing that same SEU team Oct. 28, 2023. Following their inaugural LSC triumph, the Eagles are tied for 11th in the conference standings.

Outside hitter Chloe Jones earned her second Lone Star Conference Freshman of the Week award of the season after her performance against the Hilltoppers. Jones recorded her eighth double-double of the season with 18 kills and a career-high 25 digs to help lead OC to victory. Additionally, Jones is fifth in the league among players with at least 400 total swings with a .245 hitting percentage.

Oklahoma Christian played its best conference match of the season on both sides of the ball against St. Edward's, hitting .183 while holding SEU to a .163 average, both of which are offensive and defensive bests in OC's four conference matches in 2024. The Eagles are 7-2 this season when their offense hits .180 or better and 2-4 when hitting worse than .180.

In four all-time meetings between Oklahoma Christian and West Texas A&M, OC has won just one set with WTAMU having won all four meetings. Last season, the Eagles took a 25-23 third-set to keep from a fourth straight sweep at the hands of the Lady Buffs. Annie Davis led the attack with 13 kills while Sophie Mae Smith recorded a 20-assist, 12-dig double-double.

SCOUTING NO. 9 WEST TEXAS A&M
AVCA No. 9 WTAMU comes to the Sooner State 11-3 overall and 4-0 in conference action. The Lady Buffs have not dropped a set in league games, including a 3-0 sweep of No. 14 Angelo State. West Texas A&M is undefeated on the road this season and is riding a five-match winning streak.

West Texas A&M boasts the most efficient offense in the Lone Star Conference, hitting .256 through 14 matches. On the other side of the net, WTAMU is second in the league with 2.26 blocks per set. Reigning LSC Defensive Player of the Week middle blocker Taytum Stow leads the defensive effort with 1.24 blocks per set, which is tied for 34th in NCAA Division II.
