EDMOND, Okla. - After capturing its fifth straight victory of the season Tuesday, Oct. 22 against East Central, 3-0, Oklahoma Christian volleyball returns to conference action Friday, Oct. 25 against Texas Woman's.

First serve from the Payne Athletic Center is set for 6 p.m. before OC welcomes Midwestern State to the Sooner State Saturday, Oct. 26 at 2 p.m.

EAGLE OUTLOOK (14-7, 4-4 LSC)
This past Tuesday, Oklahoma Christian faced its second non-conference opponent in the last week. Both times, the Eagles have swept the out-of-conference adversaries, with the Great American Conference's third place East Central Tigers being the most recent victims. Tuesday's win now has OC with five straight victories.

Sophie Mae Smith was the main facilitator for the high-functioning Eagle offense, dishing out 21 assists in just three sets. Smith, who has handed out 20 or more assists in three straight matches, is currently 16th in the Lone Star Conference with 5.20 assists per set and now has 754 career assists.

With just nine matches remaining in the regular season, Oklahoma Christian is currently tied for seventh with two other teams in the LSC standings at 4-4 in league play. The Texas Woman's Pioneers are tied for fifth while Saturday's opponent, the Midwestern State Mustangs, is tied for 11tth in the rankings. Five of the Eagles' remaining eight conference matches are against teams with current losing records in LSC play.

Oklahoma Christian is currently on a three-game skid against Texas Woman's while OC and MSU have split the last four meetings. However, last year when the Eagles and Mustangs met inside the Payne Athletic Center, Oklahoma Christian posted a 3-0 sweep behind 10 kills from Annie Davis and six kills on a .385 attack percentage from Camryn McGough.

SCOUTING TEXAS WOMAN'S (13-5, 6-2 LSC)
Oklahoma Christian and its five-match winning streak meets Texas Woman's and its six-match winning streak. During that stretch, TWU has dropped just three sets. This is the second year in a row the Pioneers are 6-2 through the first eight conference matches.

When it comes to opponents' hitting percentage, Texas Woman's brings the conference's fourth-best defense to Edmond, Okla., as it is allowing opponents to hit at a .182 clip. Oklahoma Christian is just behind TWU, allowing a .197 attack percentage. Heading the defensive effort is senior libero Luna França, who is fifth in the conference with 4.64 digs per set. Teammate Tori Woods is 18th with 3.28 digs per set.

SCOUTING MIDWESTERN ST. (10-10, 3-5 LSC)
After starting out Lone Star Conference play 1-5, Midwestern State has won its last two league battles, both via three-set sweeps, and three straight matches overall. 3-5 is MSU's best eight-match start to LSC action since the Covid-19 shortened year in 2020.

As a team, Midwestern St. is sixth in the conference with 16.37 digs per set, thanks to a three-headed attack from Amy DeWalt (3.24), Jenna Redding (3.07) and Demi Stauffenberg (3.05), who are all Top-25 in the league in digs per set.
