Eagles Return to the Nest to Take on Cameron, Midwestern State

Oklahoma City, Okla - The Eagles (8-9, LSC 5-6) are back home this week to kick off a four-game home stretch. They look to take on sixth-ranked Cameron (11-6, LSC 7-4) and ninth-ranked Midwestern State (11-6, LSC 5-6), who each sit just above them in the LSC standings.

WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT OC

  • Head coach Kendre Talley is in his fifth season as the Eagles head coach.

  • The Eagles currently sit at tenth in the conference standings with the chance to jump to eighth with two home wins.

  • Moun'Tae Edmundson leads the Eagles, averaging 14.2 points per game, 3.9 boards, 2.1 assists, and a steal per game. He is in the top 15 in scoring in the LSC and has been a crucial part of OC's success.

  • Seniors Karlyn Kenner and Quinton Johnson II have also helped shoulder the load, adding 10.3 and 10.6 points per game, respectively.

  • After a slow start in conference play, the Eagles have started clicking on all cylinders – winning six of their last eight thanks to a balanced attack from their upperclassmen.

WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT CAMERON

  • Head coach Kevin O'Connor is in his second year as head coach for the Aggies, posting a 15-30 record in that span.

  • The Aggies are on a three-game win streak, with their last win coming in a 90-76 victory at home against Angelo State.

  • With a 7-4 conference record, Cameron holds the number 6 spot in the conference standings.

  • Cameron boasts a high-powered offense fueled by their strong guard play. Senior Jaylan Thomas leads the group with 13.7 PPG, followed by sophomore Lavell Brodnex (13.4 PPG) and junior Daylon Andrews (12.4 PPG).

WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT MIDWESTERN STATE

  • Justin Leslie is in his fifth season as head coach for the Mustangs. His record with the program is 58-66.

  • After a scorching hot start to the season, the Mustangs cooled off as they entered into conference play. Their last contest was a 62-57 loss at UT Permian Basin, putting them at 5-6 in the LSC.

  • The Mustangs are led by sophomore standout Mason Gibson, who is averaging 16.8 PPG, 2.9 RPG, 1.7 APG, and 1.4 SPG on 40% shooting. 

  • Upperclassmen Pierre Sanders and Will Shepherd are also key contributors to the Mustangs' success, as they chip in 15.2 & 12.9 PPG, respectively.
