Men's Basketball Heads to Texas to Take on St. Edward's and St. Mary's

Oklahoma City, Okla - The Eagles will travel to Texas this week to take on St. Edward's (12-5, LSC 5-3) and St. Mary's (6-8, LSC 2-6) as they look to continue their recent success.
WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT OC
  • Head coach Kendre Talley is in his fifth season as the Eagles head coach.
  • The Eagles currently sit at tenth in the conference standings with the chance to jump to eighth with two wins on the road.
  • Moun'Tae Edmundson leads the Eagles, averaging 14.3 points per game, 3.7 boards, 2.2 assists, and a steal per game. He is a top 15 in scoring in the LSC and has been a crucial part of OC's success.
  • Seniors Karlyn Kenner and Quinton Johnson II have also helped shoulder the load with 10.4 and 9.9 points per game, respectively.
  • After a slow start in conference play, the Eagles have started clicking on all cylinders – winning five of their last six thanks to a balanced attack from their upperclassmen.

WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT ST. EDWARD'S
  • Head coach Andre Cook has coached for 14 years with the Hilltoppers, putting together a 242-163 record.
  • The Hilltoppers are coming off a loss to DBU but have won 4 out of their last 5.
  • With a 5-3 conference record, St. Edward's holds the number 4 spot in the conference standings.
  • The Hilltoppers sophomore center, Sean Elkinton, is one of the leading scorers in the LSC with 19.1 points per game. He also pulls down a strong 8 boards a game and shooting 60% from the field.
  • The Hilltoppers boast a strong group of upperclassmen, Gavino Ramos, Blake Nielsen, and Jeff Gary, who are all putting up double-digit scoring for St. Edward's.

  • Bubba Meyer is in his first season as head coach for the Rattlers after spending 23 years playing for and assisting the program.
  • The Rattlers have struggled to gain traction this season, posting a 2-6 conference record and sitting two spots below the Eagles in the LSC standings.
  • St. Mary's is led by senior guard Davion Coleman, who is averaging 15 points per game, 4.1 rebounds, 2.1 assists, and 1.5 steals.
  • The Rattlers do a good job of spreading the wealth – they sit in the top 6 in assists and have seen all five starters averaging double-digits.
