Men’s Soccer Battles in Bethany to Earn a Result

BETHANY, Okla. - Oklahoma Christian (1-0-1) men's soccer made the short trip to Bethany for its first road match with a matchup against Southern Nazarene (0-0-1).

The Eagles set the tone in a physical match between the longtime rival opponents that saw twelve yellow (OC 7, SNU 5) and two red cards (1 on each team). OC put the pressure on early, and Jacob Carter ripped a shot in the first minute that the keeper punched, and it ricocheted around the left upper ninety, almost crossing the goal line before being cleared off the line.

Oklahoma Christian dominated the shot count, winning that mark by a total of 12-7, with 7 of the Eagles' 12 shots being on frame. SNU's red card came in the 42nd minute, and after the barrage from OC, they packed in their defense for the final 48 minutes of the match.

On OC's defensive half, they only allowed four shots and just one on goal, earning Fynn Koerner and company their second clean sheet in as many games. The back-to-back clean sheets mark the first time the Eagles have done that to open the season in the DII era.

Oklahoma Christian's dominance showed in the final third of the game, being the only team to attempt a shot in the last 29 minutes and never allowing the Crimson Storm a chance to win the match.
