Picoto Rogrigues’ First Goal Equalizes Match, Before Late No. 4 Midwestern State Goals

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. - Oklahoma Christian (1-4-4) wrapped up non-conference play with a matchup against No. 4 Midwestern State (8-0-1), in match with high-octane second half.

WHAT WENT DOWN
  • No. 4 Midwestern State worked patiently in the first half, keeping possession, and scored the lone goal of the half in the 29th minute.
  • Axton Pickard made his first start of the season in goal and a great save in the 34th minute against the conference's leading goal scorer to keep the score at 1-0 at halftime.
  • OC's best chance of the first half came on a great look from Isaias Silva that went just wide, the netting off the right post.
  • The Eagles flipped the script in the second half and after only taking two shots in the first half, with six in the second half.
  • Alexandre Picoto Rodrigues scored his first goal of the season on an absolute laser to the left upper ninety, leveling the match in the 61st minute.
  • After a couple shots off the woodwork, MSU scored in the 78th, and 87th minute to take a 3-1 lead, and won by that score.
  • Elliott Forestier had look to cut the lead to one with a rocket in the 88th minute but was kept out by a nice save.
NOTES
  • The Eagles, playing down several key contributors, kept one of the league's most dangerous attacker off the board, putting an end to Mere Escobar's eight-game goal streak.
  • Nine yellow cards were handed out in the physical match.
  • Isaias Silva led the Eagles in shots with three, with a couple near goals.
