Eagles take down Javelinas with an electric performance in the Nest

Oklahoma City, Oklahoma - Oklahoma Christian returned to the Nest after a four-game road trip, and they did so in soaring fashion with 8 dunks on the night.

The Eagles jumped out to a 7-2 lead capped by a dunk off a drop-step move in the post from Nyk Madison, one of his two dunks on the night. A dunk and a layup from Jovan Savic gave the Eagles a 19-10 lead as they continued to get and run, taking a 31-18 lead with Shane Perales converting the old-fashioned 3-point play with the hoop and the harm. And the first-half fun wasn't done as just a few possessions later, Drew Tennial had the dunk of the year (see video), which sent the Nest into a frenzy.

The Eagles extended their lead to 17 with free throws from Edmundson before the Javelinas cut the lead to 45-36 at the halftime break. The Eagles shot 50% from the field, 60% from beyond the arc, and 90% from the charity stripe in the first half. Four Eagles scored 7 or more points, with Edmundson and Antonio Gordon each tied with 9 points to lead OC. Gordon added 5 rebounds and 2 assists to his first-half stat line, and Edmundson had 4 assists to go with his 9 points.

Oklahoma Christian kept the same energy in the second half, with Gordon scoring 19 of his game-high 28 points in the second half. He had two big dunks to spark the Eagles, one coming on a fast break that he started with a blocked shot, and the other on a fast break after an Edmundson steal.

Edmundson added 9 more points in the second half and 3 more assists, bringing his total to 18 points and adding 7 assists.

OC tied its largest lead of the game, at 17 points with four minutes remaining, and held on to the double-digit lead until Kingsville dunked it as the buzzer sounded. OC protected the Nest with a 92-83 win in the Nest, in a game that they never trailed and led for all but 28 seconds of game time.
