Lady Eagles win big on Senior Day to sweep final week in the Nest

Oklahoma City, Okla. - Oklahoma Christian dominated the boards 46-32 and won the turnover battle en route to a 68-53 win over Western New Mexico.
 
Kia White opened her senior day performance by knocking down a three to get the scoring started in the first quarter. The three was three of her ten points, as the Lady Eagles had three players in double-figures, led by Brooklin Bain with 15.
 
The Lady Eagles used an 8-2 run in the first quarter to take a 17-12 lead, led by Olivia Travis, who teamed up with Kate Bradley to each knock down a three. Travis also made a layup on the run to score five points in the first quarter, and Bradley added a team-high 6 points.
 
The Mustangs took an 18-17 lead to end the first quarter and held the lead throughout most of the second quarter. OC tied the game at 21-21 on a Daijah Torns hook shot. Torns and Nakia Cullom each scored 4 points in a quarter that ended with WNMU up 31-27.
 
At the halftime break, seven Lady Eagles had scored, led by Bradley with her 6 points on two 3-pointers. Travis added 5 points and 6 rebounds, and Torns added 4 points and 5 rebounds.
 
Western New Mexico opened the second half expanding its lead to seven points at 34-27, but the Eagles responded by outscoring the Mustangs 19-8 the rest of the quarter. Kia White sparked the run by scoring 5 points and coming up with a steal, and the Lady Eagles took a 46-42 lead into the final quarter.
 
Oklahoma Christian doubled up Western New Mexico in the 4th quarter, winning the quarter 22-11. The Lady Eagles did so with hustle plays, scoring 6 points on second-chance points, and 6 points on fast break opportunities.
 
OC was sparked by Bain who scored 11 of her team-high 15 points in the fourth quarter to secure the win for the Lady Eagles. Bain scored all 15 of her points in the second half to go with 7 rebounds and a steal.
 
Olivia Travis and Kia White each had great performances on their Senior Day. Travis scored 7 points and collected 11 rebounds, and White scored 10 points and gave OC extra possessions with two steals.
 
Up Next
 
The Lady Eagles will wrap up the season riding a stretch of play where they have won four of their last five. They'll have the opportunity to close out the season on a three-game winning streak next Thursday, at 5:30 pm against Arkansas-Fort Smith.
