Eagles to Take on Lone Star Conference Tournament Defending Champs, Rambelles Saturday

 

SAN ANGELO, TX- Oklahoma Christian (2-5, LSC 1-2) finishes their first LSC road trip in San Angelo Saturday, December 9th at 1 p.m. to take on the LSC tournament defending champs Angelo State (6-4, LSC 2-1).

WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT OC 

  • Head Coach Markeith Brown enters his second season with the Lady Eagles. 

  • The Eagles returned nine players from last season, including the team's leading scorer and leading rebounder, Brooklin Bain.

  • The Eagles were picked ninth in the Lone Star Conference preseason poll, the second-highest preseason voting since joining the conference. 

  • Brooklin Bain and Asiyha Smith lead the Eagles in scoring, both averaging over 10 points a game. 

  • Bain and Ahniya Melton are leading the team in rebounding. Bain is averaging just over 7 boards a game and Melton is just under 4 rebounds a game. 

  • Kate Bradley, Brooklin Bain, and Asiyha Smith all lead the team with 8 assists so far this season, and each averages 2 a game. 

WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT ANGELO STATE 

  • Head coach Alesha Ellis is in her 3rd season with the Rambelles'. 

  • Ellis and her team are coming off a Lone Star Conference Tournament Championship. 

  • Finished last season 26-7 and hosted the South Central Region in the NCAA tournament, for the first time in program history. 

  • The Belles' were picked to finish first in the LSC Pre-Season Poll.

  • Senior Sawyer Lloyd picked as Pre-Season Co-Player of the Year.

  • Lloyd leads the team, averaging 15.7 points, 6.1 rebounds, 5.4 assists, and 2.2 steals a game. 

  • The Belles' also rely on Tayjanna McGhee-Pleasant, averaging 15 points, 8.2 rebounds and a few blocks a game. 

  • The Belles' also see production from Madeline Stephens, averaging 10 points, 6.8 rebounds, 2.2 assists, and 1.7 steals a game.
