Eagles Split Halves with Roadrunners, En Route to Splitting Weekend at the South-Central Region Crossover

SPEARFISH, S.D. - Oklahoma Christian split halves with Metro State University of Denver, taking the second half in a forty-minute battle in South Dakota.
 
First Half
The Roadrunners jumped out to an early seven-point lead and held onto that for most of the half, extending it at the end of the half. The Eagles battled through the half, cutting the lead to 28-24 before a late run gave the Metro State a 41-29 halftime lead.
 
Tyrus Baynham and Moun'Tae Edmundson each scored seven points to lead the Eagles in the opening twenty minutes. Bryce Kennedy and Jovan Savic each pulled down four boards to help win the battle on the boards.
 
Second Half
Oklahoma Christian came back in the second half, battling all half to count down the twelve-point lead. The Eagles put up thirty-five points in the half and, at one point, went on an 8-0 run, cutting the lead down to 50-45 with 12:02 remaining.
 
OC kept the score in single digits the rest of the way, as Edmundson scored thirteen second-half points. Miles Gibson and Shane Perales each had good halves as well, tying for a team-high in +/- at seven in six and eight minutes played, respectively.
 
Notes
  • Edmundson scored 20 points on 7–12 shooting and went 5-5 from the charity stripe.
  • Tyrus Baynam scored 11 points, pulled down 4 rebounds, and forced 3 steals.
  • Jovan Savic had another strong game with 10 points and 8 rebounds.
  • Oklahoma Christian as a team went 11-13 (84.6%) from the free throw line.
 
Up Next
The Eagles will return to Oklahoma to take East Central in Ada on Thursday at 7 p,m., and they will host Randall for their official home opener on Saturday at 3 p.m.
