Eagles Battle Back Before Falling in Laredo

LAREDO, Texas - Women's Soccer (6-4-5, LSC 2-4-4) went south to Texas for its second to last regular season road match of the 2023 campaign, for a match against the Dustdevils of Texas A&M International (7-3-5, LSC 5-2-3).

WHAT WENT DOWN
  • A free-kick goal in the 21st minute put the Dustdevils on top midway through the first half to give TAMIU an early 1-0 advantage.
  • Breanna Wooten weathered the storm as International put five shots on frame in the first half, and Wooten kept the rest of them out of the back of the net.
  • Kenley Stockton became the ninth Eagle to score a goal this season in the 52nd minute, equalizing the match after Hadley Horn headed a corner kick down to Stockon's feet, and Stockon buried it in the left corner of the net.
  • Texas A&M International struck again in the 61st minute when Lucia Cuarda, one of the Lone Star's top goal scorers, found the back of the net.
  • Oklahoma Christian had a few more shots, but the 61st-minute goal would go on to be the game-winner for TAMIU.
NOTES
  • Stockton's goal was the first of her career.
  • The goal was the Eagles 24th of the season, adding to their record for the most in a DII season.
  • Oklahoma Christian sits two games out in the win column of the 7th spot in the Lone Star Conference and has two chances to make up that gap to earn a trip to the Lone Star Conference Championships.
