Oklahoma City, Okla. - The Eagles continued their incredible start to the season, winning a nail-biter, 2-1, over Southern Nazarene (1-2-1) at Eagle Soccer Field.
Â
The game was a defensive battle for the first 57 minutes of the match, and then things broke open quickly as both teams scored in a matter of seconds. SNU scored on a breakthrough at the beginning of the 57th minute to take a 1-0 lead, but it didn't last long. OC tied it back up just 36 seconds later with a goal scored by
Alejandro Colom, and the goal was assisted by
Louis Bassett.
Â
Both teams settled back in with neither defense breaking down for the next 25 minutes, but in the 86th minute, freshman
Jacob Carter, who checked in 10 minutes prior, split two defenders, and found the back of the net. Another freshman, Danny Gutierrez, had the assist on the goal.
Â
The Eagles are now 4-0, adding to their best start in the program's DII era. They will be back on the field on Wednesday in Claremore, where they will take on Rogers State (2-1-1).
