Portales, N.M. - Oklahoma Christian (8-4, 1-0) opened Lone Star Conference play with a win on the road at Eastern New Mexico (9-4, 0-1).
The Eagles opened the match with a stellar hitting percentage in the first set of .407, to lead them to a 25-20 set win.
In set two, the Greyhounds jumped out to a 9-3 lead, but OC rallied back to win the set, 25-23. However, ENMU would return the favor in the 3rd set after OC jumped out to a quick 8-2 lead Eastern New Mexico came back to win, 25-20.
But it was all Eagles in the 4th set, sealing the match on an 8-0 run to win the set 25-14 and win the match, 3-1.
Sydney Collins led the Eagles with 10 kills, 7 digs, and 4 blocks,
Kelsie Schiefelbein had a great match with 7 kills on .583 hitting and 6 blocks, and
Olivia Hessman led Oklahoma Christian in assists with 21, and also had 9 digs.
"So happy for the players." coach Skoch said after the match. "This week, we had good buy-in and challenging practices. We have some kids out right now - but we battled and won against a good team."
OC continues Conference play tomorrow on the road at Lubbock Christian (4-8, 0-1) at 1 p.m. at the RIP Griffin Center.
