Eagles soar past Greyhounds

Oklahoma City, Oklahoma - The Eagles (2-0) soared past the Greyhounds, taking the early season, non-conference matchup by a score of 4-2.

On a balmy day, Oklahoma Christian started out of the gates quickly, continuously attacking the backline of the Greyhounds of Eastern New Mexico University. To begin the Eagles scoring ways, freshmen Daniel Gutierrez put the ball in the back of the net to bring the Eagles lead to 1-0. Soon after, sophomore Isaias Silva and Senior Alejandro Colom, pitched in a couple of goals themselves to bring the lead to 3-0 Eagles. Gutierrez would go on to score his second goal of the game, and within just over 12 minutes of play, the Eagles were dominating by a score of 4-0.

After the fourth goal, the Eagles looked to work on their defense, and they held the Greyhounds attacking force to a minimum of just 2 goals for the entire 90 minutes. On a day where stamina and strength were tested, the Eagles defense stood tall. Goalkeeper Fynn Koerner added to the victory with his 3 saves.

After the game, coach Sowerby was quite pleased with the performance by his squad. "It was good. Great game, good to get another win and good to score goals." When asked about the brilliant start to the game, Sowerby would say, "We just knew from the very start it was super important. The first 20 minutes were magnificent."

OC, who has now scored 11 goals in 2 games to kickoff the 2022 campaign, will look to continue their high-flying offense as they travel to Bolivar, Missouri, to face the Bearcats of Southwest Baptist University.
