CLEVELAND (April 6, 2022) – Swimming success allowed Oklahoma Christian to make its debut in the updated standings for the 2021-22 Learfield Directors' Cup for NCAA Division II.

With 93 points, OC checked in at No. 120 (among 306 Division II schools) in the standings, which were updated recently to account for winter sports championship events. The Eagles picked up 57 points for an 11th-place finish in the Division II men's swimming meet and 36 points for finishing 35th in the Division II women's swimming meet. OC had a one-woman team, Cheyenne Parks, in the latter event.

The Directors' Cup standings measure the overall strength of a university's athletic program. Under the scoring system, points are awarded based on a school's finish in NCAA Championship events. All scores are counted for men's and women's basketball, baseball and women's volleyball. Additionally, up to 11 of the highest scores from other sports can be included in the final score.

OC's highest Directors' Cup finish came in 2018-19, when it finished 130th with 157 points. OC was 180th in the Cup standings in 2015-16, its first season as a full Division II member, 208th in 2016-17 and 140th in 2017-18. No standings were kept in 2019-20 and 2020-21 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

So far this academic year, 218 Division II schools have earned points toward the Directors' Cup standings. Eleven of those are Lone Star Conference members and OC ranks sixth among that group. OC competes in the LSC in most sports except for men's and women's swimming, which compete in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.

The top five Division II programs through the winter season were Grand Valley State (Mich.) with 754 points, Colorado School of Mines with 614.25 points, Queens (N.C.) with 540 points, West Texas A&M of the LSC with 537.5 points and Colorado Mesa with 492.25.

The final standings will be announced in June, after the completion of all Division II championship events.
