Eagles defeat No. 5 St. Mary’s to advance to the conference championship

San Antonio, Texas - After the double overtime win in the quarterfinals on Tuesday in Lubbock, Oklahoma Christian (11-4-5) headed to San Antonio to take on the No. 5 team in the nation and the 1-seed, St. Mary's (11-1-6).

After scoring in the 24th minute in the quarterfinals, the Eagles took a few more minutes in the semifinals, scoring in the 34th. The goal came off of a rebound when Elliott Forestier took a shot from outside of the box that ricocheted off the keeper and found the feet of Isaias Silva. Silva gathered the loose ball and shot it back in between the keeper and the near post.

The goal was Silva's 4th of the season and his second game-winner, and Forestier was credited with his first assist of the season.

The Eagles' defense continued its great play, allowing just three shots on goal in the match and earning its 5th shutout of the season.

Oklahoma Christian handed St. Mary's their first loss of the season, and earned their third result against a top-25 team this season.

The win advances Oklahoma Christian to the Lone Star Conference championship match at 1 p.m. on Sunday, in San Antonio against the 6th-seeded Midwestern State.
