Eagles win a 5-set thriller in the final home match of the season

Oklahoma City, Okla. - Oklahoma Christian (15-12, 6-8 LSC) wrapped up its home schedule with a win against Angelo State (11-15, 7-7 LSC) on Saturday afternoon in the Nest.

The Rambelles won the first two sets, both of which used extra points to decide a winner (27-25, 26-24).

Then came the Eagles, they rallied to take set three 25-23. The set was tied at 12 all before OC used a 4-0 run to create some separation, and they held the Belles off the rest of the set.

In set four, Oklahoma Christian jumped out to a 9-4 lead and ran away with the rest of the set. Annie Davis led OC's attack with 6 kills in the set to pace OC to a 25-20 win and tie the match at 2 sets each.

The momentum continued into set five, with Oklahoma Christian taking an early 9-4 advantage. Angelo didn't back down though, they used an 11-5 run to take the lead, 15-14. The Eagles battled back from match point twice, and three consecutive kills from Davis won the match for OC.

Hannah Rouse, in her final match in the Nest, had a season-high 16 kills. And Olivia Hessman, in her final home match, had a career-high 43 assists to lead OC's offense. The Eagles' also had eighteen blocks in the match to set the tone defensively. 

With the Eagles' two wins this weekend, they jumped into 9th place in the Lone Star Conference standings. The top-8 teams in the conference make the conference tournament, and the Eagles have two games left to jump into the top eight.

Oklahoma Christian will hit the road Friday for a matchup at 6 p.m. against Texas Woman's University.
