Eagles earn draw against No. 14 West Texas A&M in the season finale

Canyon, Texas - The Eagles' season came to an end last night in dramatic fashion as they battled No. 14 West Texas A&M to a draw in Canyon, Texas.

The two teams held each other scoreless in the first half. Ashlee Jackson who split time in goal in the match with Gabby Goddard, made four saves in the first half to keep the Buffs off the board.

Seven minutes into the second half, the Buffs struck with a goal from the 2nd leading goal scorer in the conference. West Texas A&M would be shut down for the rest of the half though, as Goddard made seven saves in the second half (more on that in a minute).

In the 76th minute, Brooklyn Fink launched a ball from the back line all the way to the box of West Texas A&M, and Kyla Lovelace took advantage. Lovelace came flying down the field, avoiding a defender attempting to block her, and sent a laser into the back of the net on a slide that beat the keeper the ball.

The goal was Lovelace's team-leading fourth goal of the season, and Fink's team-leading second assist.

And now for the aforementioned saves. In the 89th minute, Goddard made the effort of the season to keep WT from a late goal. Goddard made not 1, not 2, but three saves and dove to punch the ball away before a 4th shot attempt (see the video for just how impressive the effort was).

Those saves brought the Eagles' season to a close with a great result against the No. 14 team in the country.
