SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (Jan. 29, 2022) –
Cheyenne Parks posted Oklahoma Christian's only event win and recorded a NCAA Division II B qualifying time in another race to lead the Eagles on Saturday in a 213-59 dual loss at No. 3 Drury (Mo.) at Breech Pool.
Drury won all but one of the 16 contested events, but a handful of OC swimmers had strong performances. Parks, a sophomore from Guthrie, Okla., was among them. She won the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 57.68 seconds and later finished second in the 500 freestyle in 5:02.16, meeting the B time standard by 2.66 seconds.
Vivian Pitsch, a freshman from Koblenz, Germany, posted one of the Eagles' other runner-up event finishes in the 200 backstroke, finishing in 2:11.78.
Eden Chiu-Pinheiro, a sophomore swimming in her hometown of Springfield, had the other in the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:00.34.
Finishing third in the 200 individual medley for OC was junior
Andrea Rogers of St. Charles, Mo., with a time of 2:14.55.
The Eagles also finished third in both relay races. The foursome of
Olivia Rollen,
Hope Hill, Rogers and
Jaiden Branstrom posted a time of 1:39.00 in the 200 freestyle relay, while Pitsch, Rogers, Parks and Rollen had a time of 1:49.39 in the 200 medley relay.
After swimming in three dual meets in four days, the Eagles now will gear up for the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Championships, to be contested Feb. 9-12 in Grand Junction, Colo.
