LAREDO, Texas (March 9, 2021) – Oklahoma Christian took the lead in the first 15 minutes but Texas A&M International rallied for a 3-1 win over the Eagles on Tuesday afternoon at Dustdevil Field.
Looking to build on the momentum from its 2-1 upset of Midwestern State (Texas) on Saturday, OC (1-3, 1-3 Lone Star Conference) went ahead in the 15th minute against TAMIU (2-1, 2-1) on a goal by
Ian Arendse, which was assisted by
Michele Perina.
But the Dustdevils quickly tied the soccer match, with Gabriel Gacovicaj scoring in the 19th minute. Just after halftime, TAMIU took a 2-1 lead on a goal by Johan Portales and the Dustdevils added an insurance goal in the 65th minute by Kristian Colaci.
TAMIU outshot the Eagles 20-3. OC goalkeeper
Anthony Trabichet was credited with 11 saves – his second straight double-digit saves performance and the eighth of his career – while his TAMIU counterpart, Natxo Faus, made one save.
OC will host No. 10-ranked St. Mary's (Texas) on Saturday at 2 p.m.
