COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (March 23, 2021) – For the second straight year, Oklahoma Christian swimmers
Jamie McGarrigle and
Grace Hill represented the Eagles on the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference's All-Academic team, which was released Tuesday.
Hill, a junior from Santa Clarita, Calif., and McGarrigle, a senior from Indian Harbour Beach, Fla., made the 10-woman All-Academic first-team list, while 10 other Eagles made the RMAC's All-Academic Honor Roll.
To qualify for the honor, an athlete must have at least a 3.3 cumulative grade-point average, have been a student at his institution for at least two semesters and used a season of competition during the academic year in which the award is earned. Sports information directors from RMAC institutions vote to determine the first-team list, with the award based on both academic and athletic results.
Hill, an Interior Design major, carries a perfect 4.0 GPA and earlier was named as the winner of the RMAC's Summit Award, which goes to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point average who is participating at the final site for each of the RMAC's championships.
At the RMAC Championships last month in Grand Junction, Colo., Hill finished sixth in the 400-yard individual medley (4:42.32) and seventh in the 200 IM (2:11.21).
McGarrigle, a Bible major with a 3.68 GPA who earned her third All-Academic first-team honor in as many seasons, finished fifth in the RMAC meet in the 100 butterfly (58.57 seconds) and sixth in the 50 freestyle (24.15 seconds). She also earned two All-RMAC second-team honors as part of OC's 200 freestyle relay and 200 medley relay teams that each finished fourth in the meet.
In 2020, McGarrigle made the College Sports Information Directors Association of America's Academic All-District At-Large list and was named to the Scholar All-America list by the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America.
