Cole Lee homered twice,
Michael DiFiore hit a grand slam and
Chance Westervelt added yet another longball to lead Oklahoma Christian to a 19-1 romp over Texas A&M International on Saturday afternoon at Jorge Haynes Field.
OC (3-3, 3-3 Lone Star Conference) earned the series win with its biggest offensive outburst since a 21-17 win at Oklahoma Baptist on April 9, 2019. The Eagles recorded 21 hits against TAMIU (4-8, 4-8) while limiting the Dustdevils to only three.
Westervelt's two-run homer and a two-run double by
Blake Empkey highlighted a five-run second inning for OC off TAMIU starter Joseph Garza-Delapena (1-2). During a four-run fourth, Lee led off with a solo home run, Empkey hit another run-scoring double and Westervelt contributed a two-run double.
Ronnie Bailey hit a solo homer for the Dustdevils in the bottom of the fourth, but DiFiore answered with a grand slam in the fifth to make it 13-1. In a five-run sixth, Lee hit a two-run homer and Empkey smacked his third RBI double.
The game ended after seven innings due to the 10-run rule.
OC left-hander
Julien Ly (1-0) pitched a career-long six innings and allowed only three hits and one run. He struck out five Dustdevils and walked two.
The Eagles will visit archrival Southern Nazarene on Tuesday for a nonconference game before returning to LSC action with a home series starting Friday against Texas A&M-Kingsville.
