GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (Feb. 18, 2021) – The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference named Oklahoma Christian junior
Grace Hill on Thursday as the league's Swimming and Diving Summit Award winner.
The award is presented to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point average who is participating at the final site for each of the RMAC's championships. All GPAs are based on a straight grading scale to ensure consistency among institutions. Any tie is broken by the number of credits completed.
Hill, from Santa Clarita, Calif., is competing for the Eagles in the RMAC Championships that began Wednesday. She made the A final and finished seventh in her first event, the 200-yard individual medley, in a personal-best time of 2:11.21 (altitude-adjusted).
She carries a 4.0 GPA in Interior Design at OC. Hill, in her third season with the Eagles, is the first female OC swimmer to win the Summit Award in the program's four-year history. Former OC swimmer Micah Young won the RMAC men's Summit Award last year.
Hill will be recognized by the RMAC during the league meet. OC competes in the Colorado Springs, Colo.-based conference in women's and men's swimming as an affiliate member.
"Grace has gotten better as an athlete and, more importantly as a student, each of her three years in college, which is sometimes hard to do," OC coach
Josh Davis said. "To see her mature and thrive here at OC is a joy and I am so glad she is on our team and continuing our young but great legacy of smart hard working swimmers!"
