Boling accepts job as SID at Texas Woman’s

DENTON, Texas (Nov. 8, 2021) – Morgan Boling, who has spent the last three semesters working as a graduate assistant in Oklahoma Christian's athletic communications office, will be the new sports information director at Texas Woman's University, TWU announced on Monday.

Boling wrapped up her duties at OC on Saturday, working the annual homecoming basketball games. She will start at Texas Woman's – a Lone Star Conference rival of OC – on Friday.

She will handle primary sports information duties for eight women's sports at TWU – artistic swimming, basketball, dance, soccer, softball, stunt, volleyball and wrestling. She will work under Paul Smith, TWU's assistant athletic director for communications.

"I could not be happier to have Morgan joining our external team," Smith said. "She has had the opportunity to work with and learn from an award-winning SID in Murray Evans at Oklahoma Christian, and has been a vital part of that office. Her recent experience as a Lone Star Conference student-athlete will be a tremendous asset as she connects with our community, and I am excited by what she brings to our department. She has learned from the best, the quality of her work has earned the respect of her peers, and we are fortunate to have her as a part of our team."

At OC, Boling has filled many roles. She has served as a statistician for soccer and basketball, as a broadcaster on OC's volleyball and soccer streams this semester and as a public-address announcer for OC's softball team this past spring. An outstanding writer, Boling has authored numerous feature stories on OC student-athletes and wrote game stories this season on the women's soccer team.

Working with fellow GAs Kregg Matthews and Edie Fairchild, Boling also has worked to improve the social media feeds for OC athletics, particularly on Twitter and Instagram.

Outside of her work at OC, she also helped handle social media duties for the NCAA during the 2021 Women's College World Series in Oklahoma City.

"Morgan is ready for this major step in her career," said Evans, OC's assistant athletic director for communications. "During the all-too-brief time she's been with us, she has shown considerable talent performing many of the skills required from a sports information director, from keeping statistics to writing to broadcasting to social media to game operations to interpersonal relations.

"She will be a star in athletic communications and I'm proud to say she's an OC alum. I'm grateful she can always say she got her start here at OC. She will be greatly missed, because of the volume and quality of work she produced."

Boling, who played for OC's women's soccer team from 2016-2019, graduated in April 2020 with a double major in Journalism and Sports Management. From Somerville, Tenn., she made the Heartland Conference's President's Honor Roll in each of her first six semesters at OC and the Lone Star Conference's Commissioner's Honor Roll during her final two semesters with the Eagles. She also was a three-time recipient of the Division II Athletic Directors Association's Academic Achievement Award.

In addition to her time on the soccer team, she spent three years as sports editor of The Talon, OC's student online newspaper.

"I am very excited to be joining the Pioneer team," Boling said. "Texas Woman's is clearly passionate about creating the best environment for their student-athletes, staff, and coaches. I could not be more thrilled to join a culture with positivity, vision and growth at its core."
