OKLAHOMA CITY (Jan. 17, 2021) – Dominating wins in her two races in Oklahoma Christian's first swimming meet of the semester earned
Cheyenne Parks recognition Sunday as the Eagle of the Week.
Parks, a sophomore from Guthrie, was OC's only two-time individual winner (female or male) in the Eagles' dual meet on Friday night against Oklahoma Baptist at the Mitch Park YMCA pool in Edmond.
In her first event, she won the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 1:58.92, .20 of a second ahead of the runner-up, Emma Jorgensen of OBU. She crushed the opposition in the 500 freestyle, as her winning time of 5:20.90 was 8.3 seconds ahead of the second-place finisher, Anya MacPhail of OBU.
Parks also swam the leadoff (backstroke) leg for OC's B team in the meet's opening event, the 200 medley relay, helping it post a fourth-place finish with a time of 1:56.07. Parks swam her backstroke leg in 29.02 seconds, second-fastest in the race.
The Eagle of the Week award recognizes the top performer in OC athletics for the previous week. The honor is presented each week at least one OC athletic team is in competition.
