8 sign with OC women’s soccer program

OKLAHOMA CITY (Nov. 21, 2020) – Eight players have signed letters of intent to play college soccer at Oklahoma Christian, OC women's coach Meagan Anderson said Saturday.

Joining the Eagles for the 2021 fall season will be:
  • Hannah Covert of Edmond, a standout from Oklahoma Christian School who plays club soccer for Oklahoma City Energy FC;
  • Jill Duncan of Andover, Kan., who plays prep soccer at Andover Central High School;
  • Elena Hellinger of Edmond, who plays at Edmond North High School and has recorded 32 goals and 20 assists in 40 games over the past two seasons;
  • Makayla (Ashlyn) Jordan of San Angelo, Texas, who plays at San Angelo Central High School;
  • Kyla Lovelace of Mustang, who had eight goals in five games during the 2020 season before it was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic and who scored the winning goal in a Class 6A semifinal game as a freshman in 2018;
  • Katie McCullock of Mustang, a two-time All-District selection who played for Oklahoma City FC of the Women's Premier Soccer League in 2019;
  • Avery Rees of Mustang, who like Lovelace and McCullock played on prep squads that reached the 6A title game in both 2018 and 2019 under head coach Lindsay Riggs, who's also an assistant coach at OC; and
  • Zoe Wilson of Yukon, a two-time All-District selection who played in high school for former OC player and coach Steve Scott.
"We are extremely excited to add these girls to our roster in the fall," Anderson said. "As we continue to elevate the competitiveness of our program, these girls come from very competitive high school and club teams. With us adding depth at almost every position, this class will fit in very well with our returning players.

"We will look for big things from Makayla and Kyla up top. Both have great field awareness and look to go forward often. Their speed and anticipation set them apart. Hannah and Jill are wingers with great range on both sides of the ball. Their abilities to get up and down the field will fit well with our play. Elena will be used as both a forward and attacking midfielder, in the attacking end of the field. Size and strength are big qualities for her.

"Zoe is a competitive addition in the middle who we will use to fill in where needed. Katie and Avery will add to our growing strength in the back. Smart, physical play from each is an encouraging addition to our back line."
