OC announces women’s soccer schedule for inaugural Lone Star season

Goalkeeper Josie Knox and the Eagles will open their 2019 season on Sept. 5 against Northwestern.
OKLAHOMA CITY (May 22, 2019) – Oklahoma Christian's women's soccer schedule for 2019, released Wednesday by coach Meagan Anderson, will have a mix of familiar and new foes for the Eagles as they enter the Lone Star Conference.

After a home exhibition game on Aug. 24 against University of the Ozarks (Ark.) and a pair of scrimmages, OC will open its season with the first of five nonconference games, hosting Northwestern Oklahoma State on Sept. 5. Two days later, another Great American Conference foe, Southwestern Oklahoma State, will visit OC, and a third GAC program, East Central, will visit on Sept. 10.

The Eagles' two nonconference road games will be against local foes – at Central Oklahoma on Sept. 13 and at longtime rival Southern Nazarene on Sept. 19.

OC will open Lone Star play on Sept. 26 at Dallas Baptist (Texas), which – like OC – is moving from the Heartland Conference into the LSC. The Eagles will play Sept. 28 at LSC foe Texas Woman's.

The Eagles' first LSC home games will be Oct. 3 vs. St. Edward's (Texas) – another former Heartland program – and Oct. 5 against Angelo State (Texas). OC is 0-2 all-time against both Texas Woman's and Angelo State.

OC will hit the road for three straight games after that, visiting Texas A&M International on Oct. 10, St. Mary's (Texas) on Oct. 12 and Midwestern State (Texas) on Oct. 17. TAMIU and St. Mary's also are moving into the LSC from the Heartland.

Texas-Permian Basin, which moved into the LSC from the Heartland a few years ago, is back on the OC schedule for the first time since 2015 and will visit on Oct. 24, with another former Heartland squad, Lubbock Christian (Texas), in town two days later.

The Eagles' final four regular-season games will be against reasonably unfamiliar LSC opponents. OC will visit Eastern New Mexico on Oct. 31 and West Texas A&M on Nov. 2. Texas-Tyler, which is moving from NCAA Division III into Division II and the LSC, will play at OC on Nov. 7, with Texas A&M-Commerce visiting the Eagles on Nov. 9.

OC never has played Eastern New Mexico and is 1-1 all-time against Texas-Tyler (with the last meeting in 2009), 0-2 against West Texas A&M (with the last meeting in 2002) and 0-3-1 against Texas A&M-Commerce (with the last meeting in 2013).

The LSC tournament will begin on Nov. 12.
