COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (March 7, 2019) –
Jamie McGarrigle earned first-team honors and led a six-woman Oklahoma Christian contingent on the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference's All-Academic swimming team, which was announced Thursday.
To qualify for the honor, an athlete must have at least a 3.3 cumulative grade-point average, have been a student at her institution for at least two semesters and used a season of competition during the academic year in which the award is earned.
Sports information directors from RMAC institutions vote to determine the first-team list, with the award based on both academic and athletic results.
McGarrigle, a sophomore finance major from Indian Harbour Beach, Fla., with a 3.97 GPA, made the 11-woman first-team list. In the RMAC Championships last month in Lewisville, Texas, McGarrigle made A finals in the 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard butterfly and the B final in the 100 freestyle. She holds 10 OC program records.
Joining McGarrigle on the RMAC All-Academic honor roll were
Kaelyn Carter, a senior psychology major from Guymon;
Allison DeWeirdt, a sophomore interior design major from Keller, Texas;
Heidi Fritscher, a sophomore math education major from Mandeville, La.;
