LEWISVILLE, Texas (Feb. 14, 2019) –
Jamie McGarrigle qualified for an A final for the second straight day and
Grace Hill won the C final in the 400-yard individual medley to lead Oklahoma Christian on Thursday at the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Championships at the Lewisville Westside Aquatic Center.
McGarrigle, a sophomore from Indian Harbour Beach, Fla., made the A final in the 50-yard freestyle on the meet's opening day Wednesday, then did the same Thursday in the 100 butterfly. She finished a spot higher in the latter event, placing seventh in 57.61 seconds. In the morning preliminary race, she set a school record with a time of 57.31 seconds, breaking her own mark of 58.32 seconds, set earlier this season at the Tiger Invitational in San Antonio.
Three other Lady Eagles also swam in 100 butterfly finals.
Riley Powelson, a sophomore from Edmond, was in the B final, placing 14th in 58.72 seconds, while
Andrea Rogers, a freshman from St. Charles, Mo., and
Maggie Farley, a freshman from Humble, Texas, swam in the C final. Rogers was 19th in 59.94 seconds while Farley was 24th in 1:03.22.
Hill, a freshman from Santa Clarita, Calif., qualified for the C final in the 400 IM and won in 4:42.89 to place 17th overall. Her time broke her own school mark of 4:43.54, set at the Tiger Invitational.
OC had one other individual qualify for a final Thursday, as
Gabrealla Badillo, a freshman from Coppell, Texas, made the C final in the 200 freestyle. She finished 18th in 1:59.67.
OC's relay teams placed sixth in two events. In the 400 medley relay, the quartet of freshman
Kaleigh Seitz, McGarrigle, Powelson and Hill set a school record with a time of 4:03.69. The former mark of 4:05.56 was set at last year's RMAC meet by
Hailey Webster,
Hanna Forbat,
Rachel Brumfield and
Heidi Fritscher.
In the 200 freestyle relay, OC's squad of McGarrigle, Badillo, Webster and Rogers posted a time of 1:38.88.
On Friday, swimmers will compete in the 100 individual medley, 500 freestyle, 100 backstroke, 100 breaststroke, 200 butterfly and 800 freestyle relay.
