LEWISVILLE, Texas (Feb. 13, 2019) – Jamie McGarrigle made Oklahoma Christian women's swimming history as the program's first conference-level A finalist and three school records also fell on the opening day of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Championships on Wednesday.

McGarrigle, a sophomore from Indian Harbour Beach, Fla., twice broke OC's 50-yard freestyle record while swimming at the Lewisville Westside Aquatic Center. She finished eighth in the morning preliminary round in 24.28 seconds, advancing to the evening A final. She again finished eighth, but improved her time to 24.26 seconds.

Her teammate Andrea Rogers, a freshman from St. Charles, Mo., made the C final in the 50 freestyle and placed 20th overall in 24.66 seconds.

Also making a C final – and setting a school record in the process – was Riley Powelson, a sophomore from Edmond, in the 200 individual medley. Her time in the final, 2:12.90, gave her an 18th-place finish and broke Heidi Fritscher's OC mark of 2:15.11, set at last year's RMAC meet.

Wednesday's other individual event was the 1,000 freestyle, and OC's top finisher in that event was freshman Grace Hill of Santa Clarita, Calif., who placed 11th among 35 swimmers overall in 10:52.08, less than 1.2 seconds off the school record set by Ashley Harmon in OC's first-ever meet, the 2017 Shawnee Invitational.

Also placing in the top 16 in the 1,000 freestyle were freshman Maggie Farley of Humble, Texas (14th in 10:56.75) and freshman Gabrealla Badillo of Coppell, Texas (16th in 11:01.98).

Two school records fell in the day's lone relay event, the 200 medley relay. The OC quartet of Andrea Rogers, McGarrigle, Hailey Webster and Hill placed 10th overall in 1:50.69, while Rogers, a freshman from St. Charles, Mo., established a 50-yard backstroke record with a time of 28.43 seconds on her leadoff leg.

The former records were 1:52.54 in the 200 medley relay, set by Webster, McGarrigle, Rachel Brumfield and Fritscher at last year's RMAC meet, and 28.85 seconds in the 50 backstroke, set by Fritcher earlier this season at the Tiger Invitational in San Antonio.

The meet schedule for Thursday includes races in the 400 individual medley, 100 butterfly, 200 freestyle and 400 medley relay.
